‘Black Adam’ powers to the top of the Weekend Box Office; ‘Smile’ still grinning in third

Superheroes returned to the weekend box office this week. Warner Bros. brought Black Adam to theatres, starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular super. The film soared to the top of the box office with an estimated $67 million domestically. The film opened to $73 million internationally for a worldwide total of $140 million worldwide.

Universal Pictures’ Ticket to Paradise opened at second place at the box office. The romantic comedy opened with $16.3 millionat the domestic box office.

The scary movie Smile from Paramount Pictures dropped to third at the box office for its fourth weekend. The film earned an estimated $8.3 million. The film has generated an estimated $84.3 million domestically so far. Including international cumes the film has earned $166.2 million.

The latest film on the Halloween franchise Halloween Ends dropped to fourth at the weekend box office in its sophomore showing with an estimated $8.0 million. Including international receipts the film has taken in $82.0 million worldwide in two weeks.

Sony Pictures’ live action CG hybrid kids movie Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile dropped to fifth place with $4.2 million. In three weeks the full has generated $37.1 million worldwide.

Next weekend will see the release of the thriller Prey for the Devil from Lionsgate.
