Paramount+ has announced that starting December 1st, 2022, their monthly subscription price will increase from $5.99 CAD to $9.99 CAD per month.
The notice sent out to subscribers notes growth of the service as the reason for subscription increase.
Why is this happening? Paramount+ is growing, with more blockbuster movies, new originals and exclusive series, plus a wide variety of hit drama, action, reality, comedy and kids shows. It’s a mountain of entertainment. Plus, you’ll continue to enjoy an ad-free viewing experience.
This puts Paramount+ in line with other streaming services in Canada in terms of pricing. Disney+ charges $11.99 CAD per month, Crave charges $9.99 CAD per month ($19.99 with additional movie channels and HBO Max programming in Canada). Prime Video charges $9.99 CAD per month as well. Anime streaming service CrunchyRoll actually lowered their price in October by 50 cents to $12.49 CAD per month.
Netflix charges the highest with their standard plan priced at $16.49 CAD, though they do have a $9.99 CAD basic plan and a $5.99 CAD per month plan with ads. Paramount+ un the US also offers a cheaper plan with commercials, though that isn’t available in Canada.
For a limited time, if you can lock in Paramount+’s old annual plan rate at $59.99 CAD (40% savings) for the next year. Once the year is complete, you’ll renew at the full annual price (currently $99.99 CAD) and continue to save 16% compared to a monthly subscription over 12 months.
