‘Top Gun: Maverick’ maintains altitude to top the Weekend Box Office in second week

The highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures maintained the top film at the box office over the weekend. The sophomore Top Gun film, 36 years after the original feature opened in theatres, earned an estimated $86 million in its second weekend. The film has  internationally taken in another estimated $257 million so far. The worldwide cume, including g the domestic total of $291.6 million stands at $548.6 million.

Disney and Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness took in another $9.2 million in its fourth weekend. The film has taken in $388.7 million domestically in five weeks of release.

20th Century Studios’ animated feature The Bob’s Burgers Movie maintained third place in week two with $4.5 million. Rounding out the top five was Focus Features’ Downton Abbey: A New Era with $3.0 million in week three while Universal’s animated The Bad Guys took in another $3.3 million in its seventh week. The film has generated $130.9 million domestically.

Next weekend will see the wide release of Jurassic World: Dominion from Universal Pictures.
