Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures is back at the top of the weekend box office in its fifth weekend. The sophomore Top Gun film, 36 years after the original feature opened in theatres, earned an estimated $30.5 million in its fifth weekend. The film has internationally taken in estimated $484.7 million so far. The worldwide cume, including the domestic total of $521.7million stands at just over $1 billion.
The newest biopic based on the life of Elvis Presley opened at the box office over the weekend and took the second spot. Elvis took in an estimated $30.5 million. Dropping to third place was Jurassic World Domination which took in another $26.4 million in its third weekend. The film has taken in $302 million domestically with another $443.8 million.
Rounding out the top five was the debut of the horror film The Black Phone from Universal Pictures. The film opened in fourth place with an estimated $23.4 million over the weekend. Disney’s Lightyear dropped to fifth place in week two with an estimated $17.7 million.
Next weekend will see the wide release of Minions: The Rise of Gru from Universal Pictures. The next movie coming to theatres from Paramount Pictures is Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.
