Environment Canada has issued a ‘Heat Warning’ for the City of Hamilton.

Warnings

3:10 PM EDT Tuesday 14 June 2022
Heat Warning in effect for:

  • City of Hamilton

A heat event is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to reach 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, beginning Wednesday afternoon. Humidex values will likely be near 40.

Overnight low temperatures are expected to be 20 to 22 degrees Celsius, providing little relief from the heat.

Hot and humid conditions will persist into Thursday, however, locales that receive showers and thunderstorms may be slightly cooler.

Conditions will improve Thursday evening.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
