GAME REVIEW: Crystal Goddess

Crystal Goddess is a lewd platformer published by Gamuzumi on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. The game was developed by NFSW developer Otterside Games, an while some of those elements are still present in the Switch release of the game, the game was toned down a bit for the console release. Though while some of that content isn’t in the Switch version, it doesn’t make the game any less enjoyable.

Crystal Goddess is a pretty straight forward platforming game. You move your character mostly from left to right in order to reach the end of the level. You start off with three hearts of life (think Legend of Zelda) so you can take a bit of damage before you die. As you progress through the game you can find ‘heart pieces’ to increase your maximum number of hearts.

When you start off the game you have a blue crystal, which allows you to shoot out an energy blast in order to defeat enemies. As you make it further in the game you will recover other crystals as well which contain other abilities such as the ability to hover for a short period of time and create a small floating platform which you can use to reach higher heights.

The game overall isn’t too difficult, however the challenge comes from not only some of the precision platforming but also avoiding a barrage of energy balls. Most of the emeries in the game shoot out energy balls in one direction or another, sometimes with multiple enemies resulting in multiple energy balls to avoid in sequence.

Overall the game plays and performs well, though there is an issue with some of the controls. Quick changing the crystal gem in use via the shoulder buttons can be iffy. The crystals don’t cycle all the way through at times, though the gems can be also switched in the pause menu.

Crystal Goddess is a much more NSFW game on Steam. Some of the sprites in the game in the Steam version of the game are very lewd, though they are very small on the screen. It’s interesting to see the small ‘well-endowed’ sprites in the game, mail character included.  The image cards that you can unlock from finding hidden cards in levels are also NSFW, though this can be turned on and off in the settings.

Crystal Goddess is a pretty simple platformer. It’s nothing spectacular but if you want a basic platformer with an NSFW twist you might enjoy this one.
